There are only a handful of ways to build correctly/efficiently and a LOT of ways to be wrong. The reason the whammy thrower works is because you can throw a soul glaive at max and it's the highest damaging weapon in the game- because it comes with the nice special Armor Ignore. My favorite Sampire build, is the Wammy build with GM SS for Curse Weapon/Wraith Form/Corpse Skin (Corpse Skin+Onslaught+Double Strike spam is devastating with a 100% Fire Double Axe).
